Tampa is home to the Florida State Fair, The Gasparilla Parade- a celebration of the legendary pirate Jose Gaspars’ invasion of Tampa Bay. The Outback Bowl is held at Raymond James Stadium on New Years Day. The PGA Championship Outback Pro-Am is held yearly at the TPC Course at Cheval. Ybor City has been known for over a century as Tampa’s Latin Quarter, the neighborhood has been designated as a National Historic Landmark District and many buildings in the area are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is a historic neighborhood founded in the 1880’s by cigar manufacturers. A portion of the city has been redeveloped into a popular nightlife area.

Tampa’s Channelside area is known for its nightlife. And the Port of Tampa is where The Seaport Street terminal is located where Royal Caribbean, Holland Cruises and Celebrity Cruises depart and return. For the shopper Tampa offers an array of malls and discount stores to a vast number of high-end stores at International Plaza, and Hyde Park Village.

The Curtis Hixon Downtown Waterfront Park located along the Hillsborough River is the new home of The Tampa Museum of Arts and is looking forward to the opening of the Glazer Children’s Museum. Just around the corner from the museum you can find one of the largest performing arts complexes, The Straz Center for the Performing Arts hosts many world renowned artists, produces grand opera and has one of the nations leading Broadway series.

Tampa General Hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in west central Florida. Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute is one of 40 National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Centers. St. Joseph’s Hospital also has includes a Children’s and a Women’s Hospital just recently announced their affiliation with John Hopkins. James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and clinics provide health care services to veterans in Central Florida.
